#1. Cisco announces intent to acquire Cloupia – Cisco has announced its intent to acquire Cloupia, a privately held firm. Cloupia provides a simplified management interface across network, compute, storage and virtualization functions. Cisco has said that the acquisition is expected to be completed by the second quarter of Cisco’s Fiscal year in 2013. Read more…

#2. Hp announces the release of its SL4500 Server focused on big-data applications – Hp has released the SL4500 server focused on big-data applications. According to Hp, this server offers modular architecture, higher density, occupies lesser space and consumes lesser power, which are  critical for big-data applications. Read more…

#3. Brocade has announced the acquisition of Vyatta – Brocade has announced that they will be acquiring Vyatta. They have mentioned that Vyatta is developing the next generation network OS that delivers advanced routing, VPN and security functionality. It seems, Vyatta network OS is the industry’s first platform independent network operating system. Read more…

Extreme Networks announces 40 GbE and 100 GbE Ethernet modules for its BlackDiamond X8 Switch – Extreme Networks announces the super-scale 40 GbE and 100 GbE Ethernet modules for its BlackDiamond X8 Switch. As you can guess, it is targeted at large enterprises, data centers, super-computing and service provider networks. Initially, 4-port 100 GbE modules and 12-port 40 GbE modules will be available. #6. Dell acquires infrastructure automation solutions provider, Gale Technologies – Dell has announced that it will be acquiring Gale Technologies, a company providing an integrated self-service customer access to on-premises, cloud infrastructure, etc. Read more…

#7. Lenovo introduces ThinkServer for SMB – Lenovo introduces Tower-based ThinkServer TD330 Series targeted at Small and Medium Businesses (SMB). This server supports up to 16 cores and is based on Intel Xeon E5-2400 processor family. Read more…

Citrix positioned in the Leaders Quadrant for Application Delivery Controllers – Gartner, Inc. releases the Magic Quadrant for various IT services every year and in this press release, Citrix is happy to announce that they have been placed in the Leader’s Quadrant for 2012 Application Delivery Controller Magic Quadrant. Radware introduces DefensePro x420 – Radware introduces DefensePro x420, a hardware platform that is designed to protect against high-volume DoS and DDoS attacks. According to Radware, this appliance can handle up to 25 Million packets per second of attack traffic and 40 Gbps of legitimate traffic.
