How IP PBX enables Meet Me conference

This post is to know what is meet me audio conference, why it is exciting, if an IP PBX can enable the user to create a meet me conference by himself, and what are the features of this meet me conference.

Meet Me conference is a feature where a user can designate a meet me conference extension and all the participants can dial into that extension to join the conference, after dialing a PIN number.

Why is Meet Me conference exciting:

¤ When there are a lot of users, it becomes easier for the users to call-in than dialing out each and every number from the PBX and taking them into the conference.
¤ Meet Me conference is way more professional and certain administrators could be designated to control the conference.

Settings/Features of a Meet Me conference:

IP PBX allows the administrator to create an extension for the meet me conference. The user then creates a room, generates a PIN number and gives this to all the participants along with the time of the audio conference.

At the time of the conference, when a user dials the no, he is prompted to enter a PIN and once he enters the same, he can participate in the conference. Instead of dialing the direct no, he can also dial through the IVR.

Before he enters the room, he could be asked to record his name so that the name could be played along with a sound to all the users when he enters the conference.

Certain people could be designated as administrators and the following could be enabled in the meet me conference:

¤ Allow only the administrators to talk.
¤ Hang up the conference when all the administrators leave.
¤ Users cannot talk to each other until a conference administrator is in the conference room.

All these settings could be made from the built in admin interface/ user interface in certain IP PBX. Unlike Analog PBX, there is no more hardware or extra cost involved in setting up such a meet me conference.
